Lea Martin
Chair
I have proudly called Bournemouth home for the past 20 years, during which time I have become a well-known and respected figure within the local community. My work has spanned over various fields, from being a talented entertainer to providing compassionate care as a community support worker. I have graced the stage at the iconic Pavilion Theatre with the BBLOC theatre company, where I have taken on lead roles in beloved shows such as; Priscilla, Kinky Boots, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. My deep connection with the community and passion for the arts has shaped my dedication to making a positive impact in Bournemouth.

Andy Thorn
Vice Chair
I’ve been a proud member of our colourful Queer Community for over 18 years – hard to believe when I’m not a day over 25!
I’ve worked on the scene & certainly been a customer of all our LGBT+ establishments over the years.
I’ve recently been given the fabulous opportunity of hosting events too as one of my alter-ego’s - Dick Hollandaise & Cher De Clap! I’m a massive cheerleader generally and one of those horrible positive life-affirming people who want to spread the love and join hands underneath a rainbow – that’s the dream anyway!
I’ve always had a passion for all things organisation and planning - any chance to break out a list or a spreadsheet and I’m there! I thrive on creating a safe space, fun times and amazing memories for anyone within my reach, including the wider community!
I’m really excited to see what Bourne Free can do and the impact this passionate team can have across the many diverse areas of our community. To coin my favourite phrase: Watch this Space!!!

Irene Clements
Secretary
I have been involved with BourneFree since 2020. I am passionate about promoting equality and diversity and doing what I can to make Dorset totally inclusive so everyone can feel safe.
Charlotte Watson
Vice Secretary
I grew up in London and have a background in event planning for the LGBTQIA+ community. I moved to Bournemouth in 2022 and started working in the only gay club at the time. There I met the wonderful Lea Martin who was one of the first people to ever make me feel safe and welcome in Bournemouth, as I did not know anyone when I moved here. This made becoming a part of Bourne Free with Lea as chair that much more special.
During my time working in the club I saw all the amazing things that Bourne Free do for the community, not just organising Pride but working hand in hand with other amazing charities that focus on education, safety and well being for the LGBTQIA+ community. Seeing this I absolutely HAD to get involved.
Education on resources for Transgender, sexual health and SA & DV support are specifically areas which I hold very dear to my heart and hope to push forward and engage in my role.

Jenny Corbin
Treasurer
I have been involved with BourneFree for a number of years, performing with Lea and our other Diva Jen! I have seen first hand the good that we can do as members and allies of this beautiful and diverse community and I wanted to be part of the committee so I can play even the smallest part in making sure our LGBTQ+ members feel the support, love and acceptance that they truly deserve.
For me, one of the biggest reasons I wanted to be a part of this incredible charity is my son. I want to know that I have done everything I can to make the world they grow up in safe and inclusive, somewhere that he can be unafraid of being his authentic self.
I am so excited to be involved in something that makes a real difference, brings people together, and celebrates individuality.
Neal Errington
Vice Treasurer | Adult Panto
I have been involved with Bourne Free as a volunteer and trustee for over 20 years. I've worked my way around the charity as the secretary, treasurer, fundraising, council liaison, and more recently Chair. Pride is so important to me as a same sex couple with a young child it's magical to instil safe places for all walks of life and families. Everyone has a place at Pride.

Mel Armstrong
Trustee
When I attended Bourne Free for the first time I realised I had found my people. I have always been passionate about LGBTQIA+ rights and issues surrounding the community that I am proud to belong to.
Rob Flux
Trustee
Having moved to Bournemouth in 2012, I've seen the landscape in so many ways and from a community perspective, for better and worse.
I discovered BourneFree at my first Pride event in 2022 and saw straight away what they were trying to achieve beyond the festival atmosphere and have tried to do my part for pockets of community since. Having recently been brought on board as a Trustee, I’m passionate about supporting BourneFree’s work to promote inclusion and equality across our wider community. I’m deeply committed to our events and the hard work behind the scenes that supports the BourneFree committee, its volunteers and all those who feel the benefit of its work. . . . . . I’m also the committee’s fitness geek — loving running, swimming, 3D printing and playing D&D.

Julia Armstrong
Trustee
With a background in social work with adults, person-centred counselling and nature-based therapeutic practice, I am passionate about creating spaces that centre wellbeing, equity and belonging. Through my work with Your Nature, I support people in exploring identity, transition and community connection — using nature and reflective practice to promote healing and empowerment.
As a trustee for Bourne Free, I bring a strong commitment to social justice and activism, grounded in the belief that visibility, safety and equity for Queer people are non-negotiable. My approach combines inclusive wellbeing practices with advocacy for systemic change — ensuring that our events, outreach and partnerships uplift and represent every part of our community.
I hope to help Bourne Free continue its proud legacy of activism and celebration, supporting projects that challenge discrimination, amplify marginalised voices and build lasting resilience. Together, we can keep strengthening a culture of pride, justice and connection for all.
Kyle Best
Trustee
I have been involved with Bourne Free for the past 10 years, helping bring the pride event to life and interpreting everyone's ideas into a reality. It was an honour to become a trustee this year an offer even more help to creating an amazing space for people to celerbrate who they are.
With a background in events I hope to be able to offer even more experience and keep growing Bourne Free into a landmark events for the town. I am believe every person deserves to live in a world where they are accepted for who they are and not judged. I have seen first hand the impact Bourne Free has had on the community and people they have helped.
I’m looking forward to being a bigger part of Bourne Free and creating space for people to feel safe and comfortable.

Craig Hardy
Trustee
As a proud gay man I immigrated from South Africa in 1999 and have been at home in Bournemouth for the last 21 years. During this time I have volunteered for many charities from the Maritime Volunteer Service to the British Red Cross, and Bourne Free. I received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal for my service during the 2012 London Olympics. I look forward to being able to use my experience to help grow Bourne Free to help our wonderful community for many years to come.
